RECRUITMENT TOOLS: INTERVIEWING GUIDE
Preparing For a Job Interview
The key and the most important thing to remember when preparing for interview are:- Know your resume well as questions may stem from this.
- Practice how you will answer common interview questions.
- Find out as much information about the company as possible.
- Get there early and preferably find the location a day or two in advance.
- First impressions are incredibly important. Be yourself right from the start, turning up the volume on those bits of you that most match the job; turning down the volume on the bits that don't.
- Don't try to make a lie. You can be judicious with the truth.
- Don't give brief answers and don't ramble; strike the happy medium.
- No matter how nervous you are, you do need to look after the people interviewing you. Show that you know how to communicate and relate to people: ask questions.
- Think of how much salary you are seeking. This question is often asked.
- Have questions prepared to ask. You are usually given the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the interview.
- Remember the interviewer's name and thank them for their time.
