RECRUITMENT TOOLS: INTERVIEWING GUIDE

Preparing For a Job Interview

The key and the most important thing to remember when preparing for interview are:
  1. Know your resume well as questions may stem from this.
  2. Practice how you will answer common interview questions.
  3. Find out as much information about the company as possible.
  4. Get there early and preferably find the location a day or two in advance.
  5. First impressions are incredibly important. Be yourself right from the start, turning up the volume on those bits of you that most match the job; turning down the volume on the bits that don't.
  6. Don't try to make a lie. You can be judicious with the truth.
  7. Don't give brief answers and don't ramble; strike the happy medium.
  8. No matter how nervous you are, you do need to look after the people interviewing you. Show that you know how to communicate and relate to people: ask questions.
  9. Think of how much salary you are seeking. This question is often asked.
  10. Have questions prepared to ask. You are usually given the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the interview.
  11. Remember the interviewer's name and thank them for their time.
There are no right answers to job interview questioning. In fact a good interview question is one that allows you a chance to talk about yourself.
